readers Journal #8

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,

I currently finished a book called PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. This book is by a new author to me named Sara Shepard. My favorite part of this book is on page 21 it said " The first thing she saw when she pulled up to Alison's old Victorian on the top of the leafy street was a huge pill of trash on the curb and a big sign marked FREE! Squinting, she realized that some of it was Alison's stuff-she recognized Ali's old, overstuffed white corduroy bedroom chair. The DiLaurentis moved away nine months ago. Apparently they left something behind."

That passage was different to me because I think that is how it really all the drama and mystery started. I think that because if I were in their issue I would find something suspicious going one. I would think why is her stuff outside when she almost didn't live in that house for like a year already. Why was it outside just marked "FREE!”? What happened? Did she die or does she just need some more cash?

Before reading this book I looked at the cover. I saw on the cover a Barbie. I thought that was strange but I do love girly things like babies so it was good so far. I also saw the color of the background was yellow which to me is a happy color and I like happy books. Last I realized that the Title was in script and that is all fancy so I decided it was going to be a good book by the look.

Before I read this book I asked some friends about this book and my sister because she read it. They all said it was a great book and I should read it. So I did!

During reading I thought of what I read. I thought about how might of killed her.

I also asked why would they want to kill her. I thought maybe because she was propeller and that person was jealous of her. Or, maybe because she bullied that person because most popular girls or even boys can be very mean, careless, and just plain out rude.

After I finished I rethought what I read. I also thought of predictions on which the "A" is but still it remains unknown.

Last, I wrote this Readers Journal on what I have read in this book and also reflected on what I read.

This book is mystery. I know that because I had to put clues together. Also it put hints in it.

The characters in this book are Alison DiLaurentis, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Spencer, Mona,  Vanderwaal,  Aria,  DiLaurentis family (holder Alison’s funeral). These are all round characters. The foil in this book is the other kids in school. The antagonist is the "A".

This story took place in Rosewood, which I don't know where that is. Their social conditions are middle class.  The weather was they live is seasonal.

The main issue in this book is that Alison is gone and no one knows who took her if she is maybe alive. There is no ending yet because it is a series of books and this is only the first. This issue was external and also it was man vs. man to find her.

I think Alison is dead. I do because why would a person just hold her hostage instead of just eliminate her. That is only my thought I don't know for sure.

The tone in this book is mysterious and the mood is nervous.  The theme of this book is two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Pretty Little Liars is a teen book that actually has no moral in the book.

The POV in this book is first person because of the fact they tell what the characters thinks. The POO in this book is chapters. In this book the author’s purpose is to entertain. The authors perspective is unbiased and objective.  In this book the figurative langue is simile, metaphor, personification, and last analogy. Sadly that is it.

I would rate this book a five out of five because it never lost my attention. I would recommend this book to everyone 13 teen and up.

Love,

Gabriella <3
